2020 has been a challenging year for the Entertainment industry with so many productions coming to a halt due to the pandemic. A shift in the audition process was bound to happen as technology advanced but, due to the limitations imposed by the lockdown, the digitalization of the audition process has been happening more rapidly. I feel deeply grateful to all the casting directors that have given me the opportunity to audition during these times. Since self-tapes are more crucial than ever, I thought it would be helpful to share some resources that contain invaluable information for your audition.

Mindset is key when auditioning. This is why I had to include Christine Horn’s guide to becoming a booking magnet. Her stories about auditioning and the process she recommends remind me of Olympic Athletes’ visualization techniques, they are both grounded but also incorporate spirituality and that ca be very powerful as well as healthy to the mind, body and soul since our thoughts directly affect your wellbeing.
Judy Kerr’s years of experience in Hollywood have allowed her to create this guidebook that will fill you in on all aspects of Showbusiness. There is a section dedicated to Auditions which I highly recommend but this book has so much more to offer regarding important aspects of your career.
Ivana Chubbuck’s acting method was developed for auditions, her aim is to help the actor organically recreate the experiences of a character. The Chubbuck technique is incredibly effective because it is based on behavioral psychology. I recommend this book because it allows actors to break down the script and embody the character in a short period of time which is a great advantage especially if you have an audition coming up and you need to create breakthroughs.
